Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
When my aunt battled cancer, I kept my Goddaughter (2 at the time) almost everyday for 2 years. My aunt has since passed, and my Goddaughter is now 4 1/2 and lives with our grandparents. Additionally, I cared for her from 3wks-11mnths, weekly for up to 24 hours at a time.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor: Any arts and crafts, reading books, tea parties, baking, watching movies, dance parties, and more!
Outdoor: Obstacle courses, hide and seek, freeze tag, going to the park (if walkable distance), bike rides, hikes, etc!
I do encourage Montessori play, especially during those crucial development years (2-5), however I love being involved in play as well!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being present with the child. Kids are very attentive, they notice everything, I think it’s equally as important to be attentive to them as well. They deserve that undivided attention. Encouraging their ideas, helping them to understand those hard questions, knowing how to communicate their feelings, and understanding them when they need you to, all of that shapes their future.
My experience with special needs children...
My Goddaughter has low-functioning autism, selective mutism, and is mostly nonverbal.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My most memorable moment was when my Goddaughter took her first steps in my home while I was watching her, and she walked right to me! I felt so special, and honored to be apart of that moment. I of course filmed it for her mom, who was so delighted since she was a delayed learner.
