More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Growing up I constantly babysat my cousin who was also non-verbal from a newborn to now 6 year old. I also babysat my horse instructors kids who were 2 months and 2 years up until they were about 8 and 12 years old. I have experience with all different ages and feel comfortable providing correct care depending on age.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading books out loud to kids, playing outside, doing arts and crafts and many other things. I also like to allow kids some independent play time, depending on age, as it is wonderful for their development, with supervision of course. Sensory buckets have always been a fun activity to do with kids as well as throwing in some educational activities with flashcards or whatever learning materials that might be provided.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most part about being a nanny is ensuring the parents safe and trust worthy care for their kids while they aren’t able to be there. While also making sure the kids have some sort of structure but are able to have fun with their nanny. I think the kids being nannyed should be so happy to hear their nanny is coming over and enjoy spending time with them.
My experience with special needs children...
In highschool I was in a collaborative special needs horticulture class where we guide and help special needs kids with their class work. Every year I also volunteered at the Katy ISD Livestock Special needs rodeo where we do all different kinds of fun activities with students across the district from petting zoo’s to horseback rides. I also have a now 6 year old autistic cousin who has improved immensely, but spent a lot of his early years being non verbal.
