Hi, I am 54 years old French and Tunisian mom. I have 2 kids, my son of 21 years and my daughter of 18. I already been paid as a nanny a long time ago when I was in the US in 1997 for a single parent family with 3 kids from 4 years old to 12 years for almost 2 years before going back to France. And have a lot of experience with my own kids. I pass my first aid gestures in France, with professional firefighters and was one of the responsable of safety issues in my company. I arrive in the US in 2023, and stop working in France 10 days before coming here in NC. Since I just took care of my daughter, for her to adapt in high school, drive her in and back. Now, she is in college and just had her own driving licence. She doesn’t need me anymore and I would like to be able to speak more in English and the children are the best to learn with😊. My family and friends said that I am a good cook (French, Arabic, Italian, Asian, etc). I am just a wife and first of all a mom

The most important part about being a nanny...

Help them grow up in a best and safe environment.
Help them discover the world with stories, music. Be open-minded.
Help them take care of themselves and help others.
Teaching respect for the parents and elders.
As a nanny, you act like a substitute mother during your time but you are not the mother, and when you are with them, you have to teach them to make a difference and help them keep the emotional connection with their absent parent.
Make them understand respect for their parents and the elderly. Respect themselves and others

My experience with special needs children...

Children with Down syndrome in France, volonteer in a special center (you have to be very calm, have empathy, and at the same time firm).
Mentally and physically disabled teenager in Louisiana (change diapers, bathing, cooking, helping to eat, going out with her, playing games, and speaking, reading for her, listening music….) everything you can do with a non disabled person.
I experienced all needs with my mother’s in law’s who had 2 strokes….

The most important part about being a nanny...

When my disabled teenager smiled from ear to ear when I took her to see the sea and we had a picnic there. The sad thing that I still remember even till now, it’s my and her tears when I left.
Helping the kids to cook a meal for their mom as a surprise after a long day of work.
It’s a pleasure when the children are happy to see you… and the little ones sleeping in your arms.
