A little bit about me

I have taken care of a 7 year old boy for the last four years whenever I am home in Seattle but looking for a family in Syracuse this fall. I am studying neuroscience and psychology at Syracuse university, and have taken multiple child development courses. I am diligent, timely, and love to help clean and cook around the house as much as I can. I grew up with working parents and the youngest of four kids so I understand how useful some aid can be around the house.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have done a variety of babysitting and nannying for different families back home in Seattle. I have worked with children aged 6 months to 12 years old, from single kid families to a family with three boys. My experience ranges from after school care a few days a week to full 8am-5pm days. I have taken care of a 7 year old boy for the last 3-4 years whenever I am home. I have loved watching him grow, learn how to read and write, increase his problem solving ability, and blossom into a lovely young boy.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that being outside in fresh air and nature is so important especially during the summer time. Activities such as going to parks, swimming, walks, or even just playing outside is a great way to get kids moving. I don't allow screen time as the time I am with your kids is about engaging them in different ways. I also love arts and crafts; everything from painting or drawing to collaging or building. I find that art allows kids to explore their creativity and allows their mind to wonder and expand. Other activities I enjoy include playing board games, legos, building forts, and whatever else they might be into. Lastly, I struggled growing up with reading and writing so I understand how resilient some kids can be to practice. I try to engage them in fun and exciting ways to encourage them to practice and keep working. I think this is extra important with most schooling online this up and coming fall.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My job as a nanny is to keep your child(ren) safe, while allow their minds to expand and grow. I enjoy adventuring outside, doing crafts, reading, and whatever else they might want to do (within reason of course). I encourage finding new and engaging activities that allow for psychical movement, learning, and cognitive development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Was when I returned from college the first time during thanksgiving break and the child (5 year old boy at the time) built a four foot stuffed animal wall blocking me into his room. He said I wasn't allowed to leave again and we spent the rest of the night playing and reading in his room until he fell asleep. It was very sweet to see how much he had missed me. I take care of him whenever I am home and have enjoyed watching him grow up.
