A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Gabby! I am an experienced caregiver with over two years of hands-on babysitting and nanny experience, providing personalized care to families. I hold certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Heimlich maneuver, ensuring that I am well-prepared to handle any emergency situations. Currently pursuing a degree in diagnostic medical sonography, I also have my CNA certification, which adds to my understanding of health and safety. My background includes working as a behavioral health counselor in a children’s unit at an eating recovery center, where I was recognized by both staff and children for my empathetic approach, creating a safe and supportive environment. When I’m not studying or spending time with loved ones, I enjoy art, fitness, cooking, and reading—passions that allow me to foster creativity and well-being in the children I care for.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked a year of student contract work in which I was a teacher’s assistant at a preschool for disadvantaged children, including children in foster care, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. Working as a teachers assistant, I planned out curriculum, supervised nap time, and provided snacks and meal time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of the activities I really enjoy with the children I nanny is creating DIY art projects using everyday household items. For example, one afternoon, I decided to turn a rainy day into a creative adventure. We gathered cardboard, old magazines, buttons, and some paint, and I showed the kids how to make collages. As we worked together, we talked about the colors we liked, the shapes we were making, and even told little stories behind our artwork. The children were so proud of their creations, and it sparked their imagination in ways I hadn’t expected. What I love most about activities like this is how they foster creativity, fine motor skills, and teamwork, while also giving the children a sense of accomplishment. It’s always a joy to see their faces light up when they realize how much they can create with just a little imagination and some simple materials.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with both the children and their parents. This trust allows for open communication, mutual respect, and a supportive environment in which the children can feel safe, loved, and understood. As a nanny, it's essential to not only provide care and supervision but also to nurture each child's emotional, social, and developmental growth, while ensuring the parents feel confident in the care their child is receiving.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments happened with a toddler I cared for who was just learning to speak. One day, we were playing in the park, and she tried to tell me something, but her words were a little jumbled. Instead of getting frustrated, she looked up at me and said, "I try again?" I smiled and encouraged her to keep going, and after a few attempts, she proudly said the word she was trying to say all along. It was such a small moment, but the joy in her eyes when she finally got it right was priceless. It reminded me of how important patience, encouragement, and celebrating small victories are in a child's development. Being part of that moment of growth and confidence was incredibly fulfilling, and it’s a memory I’ll always cherish.
