More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have hands-on experience working with children as a camp counselor. In this role, I was responsible for supervising groups of children, ensuring their safety, leading activities, and creating a positive and supportive environment. I helped manage daily routines, resolved conflicts calmly, and made sure each child felt included and cared for. Being a camp counselor taught me patience, responsibility, and how to adapt to different personalities and age groups. I am attentive, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative when needed. I truly enjoy working with children and take pride in being someone they can feel safe and comfortable around, while also maintaining structure and clear expectations.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am currently a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Because of my background in art, I love incorporating creative activities into childcare, such as drawing, painting, and hands-on projects. I believe art helps children develop open minds, confidence, and self-expression in a fun and natural way. Along with creative activities, I also enjoy playing games, watching age-appropriate movies, and spending time outdoors, whether that’s going to the park or encouraging active play. I aim to create a balanced environment that is both engaging and supportive, while always prioritizing a child’s safety and well-being.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, trusting, and supportive environment for both the child and the family. A nanny should be someone a child feels comfortable with and a parent can fully rely on. This means being patient, attentive, and consistent, while also encouraging growth, creativity, and independence. Building trust through clear communication, reliability, and genuine care is what allows children to feel secure and parents to feel confident in the care their child is receiving.
My experience with special needs children...
I have personal, hands-on experience caring for children with special needs through my family. I lived with my nephew, who has special needs, and was closely involved in his daily care. In addition, I helped look after my two younger brothers who have similar needs. Through this experience, I learned the importance of patience, clear communication, consistency, and adapting to each child’s individual needs. I am comfortable providing attentive care, following routines, and creating a calm, supportive environment where children feel safe and understood.
The most important part about being a nanny...
While working as a camp counselor, a young girl once came up to me and told me that I looked like a mermaid because of my blue hair. She thought it was magical and told me I was her favorite camp counselor. That moment stayed with me because it showed how important it is for children to feel comfortable, inspired, and seen. I strive to be someone children can trust, feel excited around, and safe with, while still providing structure and care.

Hello! My name is Kelsey Panora. I have been working in childcare and education for about nine years, with the last five years spent as a paraprofessional for special needs students with Chicago Public Schools. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with students across various age groups, which has strengthened my passion for supporting children's growth and development while adapting to their individual needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by going for runs, spending time at the lake, and making memories with my senior dog. I look forward to continuing to grow both personally and professionally while making a positive impact on the children and families I work with.
