WEB is a program that stands for where everyone belongs. Eighth graders welcome new six graders into the school with open arms and we do fun activities with them like the first day of school have a tour and give out candy. We also teach lessons on anti-bullying and why rumors are bad which we incorporate some fun into those lessons with games and more candy! At WEB we want everyone to be welcomed into the school with open arms and make sure they feel safe at school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe karaoke dance parties, finding things in nature that are the colors of rainbows, painting, iSpy, and catch are some fun games that have gone well in the past. Also reading books to children and bored/card games have been really fun.
My experience with special needs children...
I work with kids through my WEB program at school who have Autism and are low functioning. My family has a long mental health history so I have first hand experience about what home is like with someone with special needs. I have always listened to what the kid need and I realize that everyone is different and having accommodations is leveling out the playing field so everyone can have good experience.
