I think the most important part about being a nanny, or really any job involving children, is to develop a positive, trusting relationship with the family. The kids need to feel safe and loved and respected. The parents need to know that a nanny's intentions are good and that they will be there, not only as a monitor, but also as a source of comfort and compassion to their children.

I think my favorite moment was surprising the children I used to nanny. Their parents were going out of town and they needed an overnight sitter. They did not tell the kids it would be me, and seeing their reaction was priceless and heartwarming. I miss them.

I (Julianne) took the red cross babysitting course, which went over first aid and CPR, I also had additional CPR training in my HOPE class. Asher has taken a CPR class as well. We have never worked with children for pay before, but have both volunteered to help with children at church camp, and I have an almost 6 year old little brother who I love caring for! We are both very responsible and open to anything from mothers helper to babysitting. If you are not totally comfortable with us watching your child(ren) because we don't have a car, your child(ren) could also come to one of our houses while our parents are present.
