I am a CNA currently caring for the elderly in many personal, physical, and mental ways. I have a little over 3 years experience caring for children and have also cared for children with special needs!(mainly autistic children) I love taking care of others in ways i can fulfill their needs and make a difference in their life, and see CNA work as a long term career for myself! Arts and crafts! Mind development hands on activities that can be imaginative creative but also help learn new things! I love puzzle games and activities that make you think and be creative in order to figure out. The outdoors and science is also one interest Ive had that i have learned brings a lot of creativity and learning to the table as well!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being understanding to a child’s mindset. I feel the best ways i’ve communicated and have gotten children to understand me was from me understanding them first. Making them excited and learning what they need to be the best they can be.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a child with autism from the ages of 2-6. I have found creative ways to engage learning in a fun way for those in need of different solutions or steps. Being patient and understanding and learning from his mindset changed my perspective on a lot! Being open minded on his own way he processes and wants to learn things have helped me and him both grow a lot during my care for him!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most diverse situation was caring for a little boy with autism. Instead of teaching and playing with him in basic ways he had his own thought process and way he saw solutions and figured things out. His creativity and mindset on things have made me open minded to learning from the children not only teaching them and it has by far been my favorite experience.
