More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Nanny/Tutor agency, private families, and YMCA Summer Camps.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Imaginative character play time, painting/coloring/drawing art time, reading books, sports games, toy hide and go seek, and academic centered games. I also love hide and go seek!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety! Safety is my #1 priority. From playing lots of sports games, swimming, arts and crafts with scissors, baking/cooking with kids help, to during this covid pandemic, it is my absolute goal to keep children safe at all times during every activity or situation.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for about 2 dozen of children and teenagers with autism, down-syndrome, and cerebral palsy. This includes verbal and nonverbal spectrums as well as a variety of physical limitations. I have cared for children who are in wheelchairs, had a colostomy bag, and feeding tubes. I have also tutored many different children/teens who have dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, and other emotional/behavioral challenges.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many cherished nanny moments I have had over the years, but one that immediately comes to mind is a moment that happened last year. So, one of my methods of caretaking is emotional modeling. It is important to show patience and self emotional regulation when you are with kids. When we would play lots of sports games I would take a quick pause every so often to do a 4 count breathing technique in order to relax and stay focused. When the 4 year old I would nanny started to do the 4 count breathing technique on his own when he was getting angry or overwhelmed with his brother or a game, I immediately noticed and paused to compliment and encourage him to continue that breathing method in situations of stress. It truly showed that my emotional modeling had impacted him and was to hopefully stay in his coping skills in the long-term.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Oakland, CA: Jolene L.

A childcare model of responsiveness and connectivity is central to my philosophy. I believe in honoring children as complete individuals worthy of respect, while also catering to the unique needs that come with having a developing brain.

I'm a creative person who loves painting and crafts, and has an affinity for energetic play and imaginative storytelling. I have a background in professional cooking and am perfectly willing to cook delicious meals for the family when needed. I'm also happy to help with tidying and laundry. Additionally, I have experience working with learning disabilities and ADHD.

I believe having a strong relationship with the families I work with helps the children thrive and feel secure. Because of this, I'm happy to work with the right family for many years.

I take the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously and can send proof of vaccination.
