I began caring for children when I was 14 years old as a Sunday school teacher, following that I got my first nanny job at 16, I have worked as a daycare teacher, and have had many baby sitting opportunities. I am now a mother to a two year old boy. My grandmother raised me and she owned a daycare so childcare is pretty much second nature to me!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, dancing and singing, doing treasure hunts, and really just whatever creative idea the kiddos bring my direction.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny, obviously beyond safety, is being a safe space for the children and learning each child’s emotional and creative needs and helping them blossom from there. I love reminding children of their unique gifts, as each child is always different.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked at a state funded daycare where many of the children we’re on the spectrum, dealing with non-verbal children taught me a great deal about body cues, I’ve also had many dis-regulated children in my care - and it brought me joy to learn how to be a safe space for them and find creative ways to calm them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was taking two of my girls on walks to the park and bringing a speaker to listen to “roar” and the girls would sing so loudly.
