More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered at multiple churches and mosques to help take care of the children during service and prayer. I also worked as a camp counselor over the summer for two summers during high school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am an outdoorsy person so I’ve always loved taking kids to the playground or pool! I also love taking kids on something I call a whimsy walk, the kid(s) will name 10 things we want to see and whoever checks the most things off of their list will get a prizes such as stickers, snacks, etc!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the most important things about being a nanny to me is being a friend. Most of the children I’ve babysat have been on the shyer side and I’ve noticed that one way to get them out of their shell is to get down to their level and feel like a friend to them. Thinking up new and fun ideas during play time can help them feel more comfortable with me. When they see you as a friend it makes things like enforcing boundaries, bedtime routines, and missing parents much easier to handle because they feel comfortable enough to tell me exactly how they’re feeling and why which is ultimately my goal.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favourite nannying moments was when I’d woken up the kids for the day and the sister shot straight out of bed when she saw me. She’d seemed so genuinely excited to see me and had proven so by hugging me and asking what I’d had planned for her and her brother that day. Moments like that truly warm my heart and remind me why I love caring for children so much.
