I have worked as a therapeutic preschool teacher as well as after school leader at a facility for children with disabilities. I have also had experience babysitting and nannying off and on for about 10 years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love love love to color and get creative artistically. I'm not afraid of some messy play and feel that it is important for children to engage in these sort of activities to learn about their senses as well as develop fine motor skills. I also love a good dance party and anything outside!
My experience with special needs children...
I have a lot of experience with Children who have special needs. I have been volunteering at Camp Barnabas during the summers for 10 years which totally sparked my passion for individuals who have disabilities. During my college career, I worked at an after school facility that was exclusively for children with special needs. This varied in terms of ability. Following my college graduation, I began working as a therapeutic preschool teacher. I had a wide range of students in my class. Some had Autism, some had Down syndrome, some with Cerebral Palsy, etc. I am currently training to be an RBT and provide ABA therapies to children diagnosed with Autism.
