A little bit about me

Hi, My name is Haylee Rodriguez. I am a 19 year old part time college student. I am a social work major, I eventually want to become a therapist for children specifically. I have babysat my cousins of various different ages as well as tutoring them in areas they are struggling with in school. I am responsible, reliable, patient and caring. I am not yet cpr/first aid certified but I am working on getting the certifications! I can help with homework, meal prep and tasks around the house! I do have my drivers license as well as a car. I also have a clean record, no tickets! I specifically enjoy working with children because I love watching them grow, building confidence in new skills, as well as creating a safe positive uplifting environment. I also find it very rewarding to be a positive role model.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy not only planning the activities but also doing them with the children almost demonstrating. Indoor activities have to be arts & crafts, coloring, painting, reading books together or too them, legos, building blocks, board games, sensory activities and I really enjoy planning educational activities. Outdoor activities are taking kids to playgrounds, going on nature walks/hikes, all kinds of sports, chalk, blowing bubbles, and scavenger hunts. I really enjoy encouraging kids active and creative side. My favorite part has to be tailoring the activities to the child's interests while still keeping a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny has to be the relationship you create with not only the child but the parent as well. Building trust with both is essential because the parents are trusting you with their child's safety, well being, and needs. A strong relationship allows for open communication, consistency, and a positive environment where the children feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. When you have that relationship with both the parent and children it helps create a successful and rewarding experience.

My experience with special needs children...

I have particularly worked with special needs children, specifically autism, through helping babysit and care for my 5 cousins of all varying ages from toddler to adult. Which has given me experience adapting to the different developmental stages, personalities, and their individual needs. I have learned the importance of patience, understanding, and flexibility. I have helped maintain routines, supervising their daily activities as well as helping manage play all while providing a safe environment. Caring for children with different needs and ages has strengthened my communication skills and has taught me how to adjust to support each child.
