A little bit about me

Hi there! I have a long history of working with children of all ages, and I enjoy it above all else. I started off as a teacher's assistant in Compton, CA before moving back to Fresno where I was a nanny for two young boys (ages 2 and 10) as I finished school. I was part of the family for 8 years before becoming a substitute teacher for grades PreK-12. I have privately taught for a small group of students (grades 3-10) during COVID. After COVID, I was hired for a year to work with a family that had a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old before they moved out of state. Currently, I am working as a manager at a Family Entertainment Center, and planning to open my own Daycare. In the past, I helped with light housekeeping, cooking, and tutoring. I cared for newborns up to 13 years old. I have extensive experience working with children who are on the Autism Spectrum or have ADHD, PTSD, and other behavioral disorders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love play time outside and giving children the opportunity to explore new things. Small field trips (i.e. Zoo, water park, etc) is something I love to coordinate and participate in. Dancing and creative expression is also something I enjoy as well as teaching life skills through fun games like emotional honesty, reading, counting, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Honestly, the most memorable nanny moment was when I broke my four year old out of his shell. He was such a serious child and was developing anxiety and OCD behaviors. As a result, I tried every day to get him to loosen up and learn to let things go. We'd have random dance parties that he at first refused to participate in. Over time, he'd laugh at my silly dance moves. We'd do every day activities, and without warning, I'd break out the music and start dancing. One day, he initiated the random dance party, and that was when I knew he was beginning to heal that part of himself that felt anxious and felt the need for control. After that, he went along with whatever random dance time that I initiated.
