Hi! My name is Heather. I have had a passion for working with kids my whole life. Out of high school I worked as a CNA with special needs children and adults. After that I worked at a hospice until my eldest son was born. After his birth I decided to nanny! I have worked with one family consistently since that time. Our kiddos have grown up together. Now that we are looking into relocating it is time to find a new family.

"Heather provided excellent full time care for our daughters for three years. Starting when our first was 5 months old, she brought her son (of the same age) with her each day. Heather has been a nurturing caregiver and her son was a wonderful friend for our daughter. After our second daughter and Heather's second son were born, Heather did a good job of managing four kids (two three year olds and two infants). Heather has always been forthright, honest, and open to troubleshooting difficult situations, which made working with her a joy. She is dependable, responsible, and very safety conscious. Heather provided countless fun activities for our kids, which meant I felt confident that they were growing up in a positive and enriching environment. Heather will be a gift to her next employer and we are so very sad to say goodbye to her and her family as they move out of our area. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have many years experience working with children starting with the typical babysitting jobs in middle school, volunteering in a preschool class, teaching a preschool class as part of my child development courses. I was a lead teacher in the infant room of a daycare. All this does not include my time working with special needs children in a home facility or my current nanny position.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that children need to stay active and engaged which means no screen time. I believe that being outdoors (weather permitting) is very beneficial to everyone but especially growing minds. Some days that looks like a walk around the block, some days that is hours at the park or pool. When we are indoors I enjoy engaging kids/babies in age appropriate crafts, sensory activities, science experiments, cooking or baking and books! I also believe that kids need unengaged time to develop independent play skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’m not sure that there is one thing that is the most important but a combination of moving parts. There is the obvious of keeping the kids safe and healthy but also collaborating with parents to enforce their choices in how their child is raised.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a background in healthcare which includes about 10 years working with developmentally disabled adults and children. I have experience with tracheotomys, feeding tubes of every sort, supplemental oxygen, seizures, implementation of pt/ot/speech plans. Designing and implementing daily goals for improving self help skills and improving quality of life among many more skills that have been picked up along the way. I have a long standing passion for caring for individuals with differing abilities and skills.
