I'm Holiday, a 22 year old recent college graduate looking for work as a nanny! I have over ten years of experience looking after young kids (aged 3 and up), and spent half of those years doing so in the classroom as an aspiring educator. I love working with children- they bring so much color and life into the world, and I'm passionate about creating an environment that returns that to them!

I'm currently working on getting re-certified in first aid and CPR so my knowledge is up to date. I have a flexible schedule and am always willing to negotiate hours.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've been working with children since I practically was a child myself, having been babysitting and working as a volunteer in childcare since I was 12 years old. In high school, I began working at an educational center where I created and taught children K-12 creative writing lessons, making sure to create a safe, fun, and engaging environment. I continued teaching there for a little over a year in college, where I was studying Elementary Education in addition to my other concentrations. This allowed me to student teach and gain experience working with kids in a real classroom.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Children have HUGE imaginations, but in a world currently governed by algorithms and screens, it's all too easy for them to not engage with it. Because of this, I love doing any activities that revolve around exercising their creativity muscles! Arts and crafts, writing stories and acting them out with toys, making movies and music, playing outside- honestly just PLAY in general are all my favorite ways to fill up the time. When playing with kids, I like to let them lead (while still being actively involved) and go with the flow. I love when I can use play to teach a valuable lesson (for example: sharing or self-compassion) and snatch up any opportunity to do so. At the end of the day, I'm just a grown-up kid who misses playtime, which makes me a certified professional playmate!

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working directly with neurodivergent children with conditions such as ADHD and autism in both classroom and home settings. I taught a penmanship and writing class to a number of children with ADHD and autism, and was able to meet them where they were, keep them engaged, and see great progress in their penmanship skills. I also have ADHD myself, and am very familiar with it's characteristics and how to deal with them. Special Education was a concentration of mine in college, so I have a good foundation of knowledge in that area. However, I do not have experience working with children with physical disabilities.
