More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have experience as a nanny and babysitter for the last 7 to 8 years. I have also been a volunteer in my church's special needs ministry and ECE rooms. I have been an ABA therapist for children with autism. I have experience watching children in their homes and my own, including overnight. I've also provided pick ups and drop offs as needed. The most children I've cared for at one time is ten, five of them having special needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy going for walks and outings as approved by parents, painting, reading, singing and dancing, scavenger hunts, and any other fun activities I can find through Pinterest. I love art so projects are always on my mind. Sensory activities for young children and children with special needs are so important so I love doing those as well. For nighttime babysitting I love to do movie nights with popcorn and snacks. I love to build blanket forts and caves out of boxes. Activities are never lacking when I'm with kiddos.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love the idea of a nanny is being an extension of the family. Parents who hire a nanny are usually doing it so they don't have to use daycare. Kids in daycare don't get as much one on one attention as kids who are cared for by a nanny in their own home. Kids should feel comfortable with their nanny and know without a doubt that they are being cared for by someone who loves them like a family member. No one can replace mommy/daddy or the main caregiver for the child, but my hope is that kids see me as an aunt or sister like figure and not a stranger that they fear. There needs to be a trust between the nanny and the entire family, parents and children alike.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with autism, ADHD, OCD, ODD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, children in wheelchairs, g-tubes, cleft lip, low muscle tone, mood disorders, fragile x, cystic fibrosis, speech delays, and many more. If you would like to know if I've had experience with anything not listed please feel free to ask!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment just happened recently. I used to work for a family that has two teen boys and a young girl. The teens called me about a week ago on the little ones birthday so that I could surprise her and say happy birthday. Hearing how happy it made her to hear my voice and that I still love her meant the world to me. And knowing that they still think about me too makes me remember how much of an impression nannies make on their kiddos.

I am 32 years of age and have worked with children the majority of my life. I am currently attending online college to finish my degree in Special Education so that I can become a teacher!
I have a 2 year old with moderate autism. She is the absolute light of my life! She is so happy and teaches me more than I could learn on my own, daily. It is important to note that I will only consider inquiries for my services if my daughter is allowed to be present with me during most working hours.
Most of the children I have worked with were special needs, i.e. autism, auditory learning disorders, behavioral needs,..etc. However, I am lucky to have worked with children of all ages and abilities; they have each given me a broad understanding of their unique and individual needs.
Furthermore, I am comfortable with providing any necessary transportation, meal prepping, over night stays, and any other needs that must be met, such as; Cpr training and first aide.
