Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked for about 7 months at the YMCA. I worked under their school age learning center program where I cared for 10-15 children at a time. The students ranged from kindergarten to 5th grade age. I was responsible for managing their after school schedule, cleaning, problem solving and student issues, communicating with parents, etc.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to be active with the children I am caring for. I think it makes things fun for both me and the child! I also love to do arts and crafts, read, and help children with tasks/homework. I love watching them learn and grow!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me is meeting the needs of the children I'm caring for and making the child/children feel comfortable. This always comes first for me as I am essentially taking on a parent role for the time being. The needs are often times very basic such as being fed, offering assistance, supervising, etc. Their needs can also be mental/emotional and I try my best to meet those as well. Furthermore, it's very important to me that the children I care for feel as comfortable as possible with me and I try to achieve this by building trust with the child, doing things they enjoy, and overall providing a positive environment for them!
My experience with special needs children...
I have a younger brother who is 10 years old and has special needs. I have nannied for him over the past few months due to COVID and I have babysat him since he was about 4 years old. Because of his special needs I accommodate for his behavioral needs, learning disability, dietary needs, physical needs, etc. I would be happy to go into more detail if you have any questions!
