A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Ivy,
I have been a full-time nanny for 6 years, while always being around children. I love the enthusiasm and passion for life that comes from this work! In addition to childcare, I have spent summers in programatic leadership positions at different summer camps across the country. I have done everything under the sun in terms of working with infants, children, and in youth development. I have experience in everything from designing experiences for hundreds of kids, to creating individualized homeschool plans. I am certainly a kid at heart and I will jump at every opportunity to play and help kids grow. I firmly believe in the unconventional approach above all else—that anything could be more amazing than it seems. I do things out of the box because, kids need to see adults doing that, because it gives them the confidence to push boundaries and make discoveries on their own!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have experience caring for children of all ages, with the bulk of my nannying years spent particularly with newborn/infants through early elementary aged children.
I spend a portion of my years working at summer camps and am no stranger to having several hundred children entrusted to my care, all school ages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

You won't ever find me using TVs or screens with kids. I've been doing this long enough to have a million and a half better ways of spending our days in my brain—whether it be cooking, crafts, phonics, libraries, grocery store scavenger hunts, celebrating random holidays, volunteering...the list goes on and on.
I also love the outdoors and wholeheartedly believe that there's no such thing as good or bad weather, just good or bad attitudes. I am no stranger to getting bundled up to run on icy sleet at 4am in pitch-black Michigan winters, so as long as the outdoors are there, I'll find a reason to be in them. Fresh air is food for the soul, good for babies, good for the crazies, and good for parties and picnics. There's a world of discovery anywhere and everywhere!

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with down syndrome, verbal and nonverbal autism, and developmental learning delays.

I will also use this space to note that I use sign language and/or Spanish with children.
I am a Red Cross lifeguard of many years, certified in CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, and am a Wilderness First Responder.
I have also had to put these skills to use more than once, so I am not a stranger to an emergency situation.
