A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Jace, I am 22 and I love working with children! I grew up as the 2nd oldest sibling of four. I spent much of my life helping raise the younger children in my family. I spent a lot of time caring for my two younger brothers until I was 21. I'd cook, tutor, and attend/chaperone all of their activities and school programs. I also spent a lot of time caring for my nieces, in both cases from their time of birth until the age of 2. Additionally, I spent a lot of my teen years babysitting/tutoring my younger cousins (ages 4-9 years old), and volunteering at youth summer camp programs when I was 14 & 15 years old, where I would supervise children from the ages of 4-12 years old in arts & crafts, and particularly volunteered with pre-school age children. At the age of 19, I babysat a 5-year-old child, whom I would pick up from school, tutor, and give snacks/dinner to, if necessary. I am attentive, careful, and prioritize the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of each child!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the children feel safe, comfortable, happy and valued! Their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing is a top priority to me. Connecting with the children I work with is super important because I believe deep down everyone just wants to be loved and cared for and it all starts in our childhood. Having that influence from people outside of our family members from a young age teaches us to trust and build healthy connections and friendships as we grow older, while valuing ourselves and our own needs and seeking those who value us in return.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was driving home a little girl I worked with from school and she always loved to sing along to music. Eventually it became a regular routine that I would put on the Kids Bop station on Spotify and we'd sing along because she loved when I'd sing to her. One day I told her I knew a song when I was her age that I loved so much and I knew she would love too. It was called Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. After I played it she grew a huge smile and asked me to play it on repeat for an hour! It became her favorite song and she'd always ask me to sing it for her on our way home from her school. She played that song on repeat every day until the last time I worked with her. It brought out my own inner child and made my heart glow to see her so happy and connected to a beautiful memory I had of my own childhood!
