More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked as a teaching fellow teaching pre-algebra to rising 6th graders through a program called Breakthrough Collaborative. I have also tutored Native Spanish speakers English (grades K-6) when studying abroad in Costa Rica. In both cases I was responsible to look after the well-being and safety of my students. Currently, I am working with 2 families to nanny two loving, and sweet 7 year olds.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy all things outdoors! Some of my favorite things to do include: going on walks, playing in the park, swimming, bike riding, coloring with chalk, blowing bubbles, and jumping in rain puddles. I also find it extremely fun watching caterpillars form into butterflies. When inside, I enjoy doing arts and crafts such as finger painting and making bird houses, puzzles, playing in sensory bins, story time, writing in shaving cream and singing songs. A personal favorite of mine (and usually children too) is making slime!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny is safety and building a genuine relationship with the family. Safety is the upmost important thing beyond any other factor. However, building a genuine relationship is very important too. You want the child(ren) to feel comfortable, and you want the parents to know that their children are in good hands. Building a genuine relationship is how that happens. Being a nanny is more than a job, it's like becoming an addition to a family.
The most important part about being a nanny...
While bittersweet, my favorite nanny moment was spending the last few scheduled days with a family I had been nannying for before I went off to college. I made such amazing memories with these children over the course of the summer. We played all day long and did so many fun activities together. I became extremely close with their parents and loved every moment I spent at their home. So, leaving them for school was tough. However, reminiscing on the time we spent together made it not so tough. Thankfully, I was able to spend one more summer with them the following year. While I no longer nanny those children, I still keep in contact with them to this day.
