A little bit about me

Hello! I am a high school teacher here in town at Skyline Academy. I have over ten years of teaching and coaching experience with elementary through high school age students. I started nannying for neighborhood families when I was in seventh grade and have done so continuously for the last 20+ years to put myself though school, and then to supplement my Arizona teachers salary. I worked as a statistician for the NCAA, as a food and beverage manager in hospitality, bartended and worked as a park ranger, only to continually return to babysitting and tutoring as working with families and children is my purpose. As much as I love the outdoors, I couldn’t find fulfillment playing in Yosemite. I am a full time teacher, so I can’t commit to a regular nanny schedule, but would love to be a substitute or occasional extra support.

I am big into imagination play! I literally slipped in socks and broke my toe babysitting this November playing “pirate ship” and walking the “couch plank” lol 😂 🙃 I also love to do crafts and play outside. While studying developmental psychology in grad school, I have found a lot of research to support learning and its relation to movement!

I actually must use one from when I was a child. My nanny’s name was John, and he put on the best puppet shows! To show my age, I had a puppet he called “Don King” and we thought it was hilarious. He was always someone I thought of as inspiration when I got into childcare myself.
