More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Offering family babysitting services, student teacher, lead teacher in classroom setting.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love planning and executing sensory activities (water play, sensory bottles, texture exploration), opportunities for children to creatively express themselves (via art, dance, music), and taking our learning and experiences outside!
The most important part about being a nanny...
In my opinion, the key is to build a meaningful relationship with not just the child but also their family. This helps both the child and family learn to feel more comfortable and trust the nanny, caregiver, or teacher. Children will enjoy being with their nanny and parents will have peace of mind leaving their child in the care of their nanny. Hiring a new nanny is an experience that can be a little uncomfortable for everyone involved so that relationship will help set the foundation for a world of learning and fun!
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have much professional experience with special needs children, however, I do help care for my niece who is on the spectrum. I consider myself to be very adaptable and open to helping/caring for every child because everyone deserves that chance to thrive.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Working as teacher, being apart of milestones were big for me. I loved seeing how the children grew and became their own person. From starting as a little baby just learning how to roll, to becoming a fully walking toddler! Helping instill meaningful skills into the children such as social skills, self care skills, emotional development, and even basic language was amazing. It was always bittersweet seeing the children come into their own and then move onto the next age group because I gave them their foundation and they felt prepared enough to go thrive without me. Overall, witnessing those milestones and that progress was such an honor to me and I will forever be proud of all my past children!

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Melany A.
Hi! My name is Melany, and I’m originally from Miami, Florida. I’m spending the summer in Washington, D.C. for an internship and would love to help local families while I’m here.
I have a lot of experience caring for kids, especially through my own family. I have two younger siblings, including my 8-year-old brother who is nonverbal and autistic. I’ve helped care for him for the past seven years, which has taught me patience, understanding, and how to stay calm in different situations.
I’m a student at Florida State University studying Political Science and Sociology. I’m very welcoming, dependable, and easy to get along with. I enjoy playing games, helping with homework, reading, doing crafts, and keeping kids entertained and safe.
I’m also open to light housekeeping, meal prep, bedtime routines, and pet care if needed. I know how important it is to trust your caregiver, and I would treat your children with the same care and kindness I give my own siblings.

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Maria B.
Coming from a large family with four older siblings and over 30 first cousins, I have always been surrounded by children. Whether spending time with my siblings’ children or helping care for younger cousins, working with kids has always come naturally to me. Toward the end of middle school, I began babysitting for families in my neighborhood. Through word of mouth, I quickly built relationships with multiple families and gained experience caring for children of different ages and personalities.
What families appreciate most about me is that I actively engage with the children rather than simply supervise them. I enjoy creating scavenger hunts, playing imaginative games, swimming, and encouraging creativity through hands-on activities. I strive to limit screen time and focus on building meaningful relationships with the children I care for. Babysitting and nannying have been my primary jobs for years, making it a field where I feel both confident and passionate.
