I volunteered with an organization, Read to Kids, for a season and I am on year three of mentoring teens through WriteGirl LA. I tutored high school students in writing and math.
I also coached middle school girls basketball and H.S. girls soccer.
I was a camp counselor for kids ages 11-17 at YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake for a summer.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, building puzzles, playing sports, or having a day out in nature noticing rocks, leaves and bird watching.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is realizing that you are in service to the development of the child. Your demeanor, behavior, and energy can impact how that child views themselves and how they grow up to see the world. We are helping shape their minds, self-esteem and supporting their finding a sense of belonging in the world.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not formally worked with special needs kids, but I have an autistic nephew who is moderate on the spectrum. I love playing with him and helping him navigate social situations with cousins and get his needs met at meal times and play time.
The most important part about being a nanny...
We were driving back from a 2-day skiing trip in Lake Tahoe and the boys were exhausted. The dad was driving and the mom was sitting in the passenger seat. I was sitting in the backseat with the 4 and 6 year old and began using my hands to create puppet-like figures. My play pretend led both kids to laugh and even got chuckles from the parents. The looks and smirks I got from the parents when they saw me create and share this moment with the restless boys made me feel so fulfilled and connected to my gift of uplifting and supporting children.
