A little bit about me

Hello!
My name is Jaz and I love working with children of all ages, with most of my experience involving 4-15 year olds. I've provided childcare in after-school programs plus summer camps as a recreation programmer for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria, District of Saanich, and the Burnside Gorge Community Centre. I have worked as a Community Support Worked with BeConnected Support Services caring for adults living with developmental disabilities and as a Recreation Aide in a dementia ward at Selkirk Seniors Village during the pandemic.

In my free time I love being active outdoors - hiking, kayaking, swimming, meditation. In my downtime, I spend time with my two cats Sterling and Gaara. I enjoy watching anime, journaling and painting.

Youth Activity Worker at the Women's Transition Society of Greater Victoria providing childcare for female identifying individuals fleeing from IPV, infants to 12 year olds primarily.

Youth Programmer at Burnside Gorge Community Centre - ran seasonal camps, after-school and drop in programs for youth 6-14.

My experience with special needs children...

Experience with assisting at meal times (using thickening agents for liquids or pureeing foods). Feeding, ensuring client is in proper positioning to reduce choking. Bathing individuals and peri-care.

Through summer camps and programs have lots of experience working with children on the neurodivergent spectrum. Utilizing transitions, patience and visual aids to assist in activities of daily living.
