Coloring, playing board games, writing, drawing, and reading. I can even try to teach them Spanish. I can also help them with their homework. In High School I took classes up to Literature 115, History 122, Sociology 1001 and Math 122.
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters to me about being a nanny is that the child is always safe, and comfortable. Growing up, I hated nannys because it was very awkard not knowing the person who was taking care of me. I think the nanny should always build a relationship with the child so that they feel comfortable and like they made a new friend. It is also crucial to understand the feelings of the child you are caring for. Many kids get overwhelmed sometimes, and they don't even know why, and it is important to acknowledge that and have patience. Offering them to talk or get something that distracts them is always a good idea, and it may help with making them happy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I taught one of the kids I took care of to read and write in Spanish. She read a short book to her mom and wrote her a note. She was so happy and proud, and it made me glad to see her that happy.
