More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Care.com, Sittercity, and through those references and referrals, I've been working a lot for myself. I moved here two years ago from Texas to be with my family. My little sister has four nieces and nephews and lives in Prairie Village. My parents live in Brookridge Estates. Altogether, I have nine nieces and nephews. I absolutely love children. When I first moved here, I started working at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead and absolutely loved it for the season. I also worked at the Tomahawk Recreational Center for a season. I did Little Gym for a little bit as well. I am a certified swim instructor and am certified in CPR and first aid. I am a very young and very fit 52-year-old who can wear almost any child out, and I absolutely love being engaged and watching their milestones. My background checks are flawless, as is my driving record—not even a ticket! I love to be active and engaging, and I cannot wait to be your child's new love and safe place.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
If you're looking for a nanny who just sits in the corner and watches the children play, that is not me. I'm a very fit, active, and fun individual, the oldest of four sisters. I have nine nieces and nephews altogether. I absolutely love activities, and your children will not be bored during the day, I promise you that. I always bring activities to do, or as they call them, "surprises." There's arts or crafts, reading, especially things like that. I like to have a schedule: nap time, lunch, things like that make life easier for all of us. But I really like to get to know what the children like first, and then every day will bring something to do as an activity just before nap time or to keep the day going. I also absolutely love to be outside as much as I can, as I am a Texas gal back in Kansas. So, as much as I can be outside with the children, I would love that as well, and I love to make sure that Mom and Dad come home to a stress-free household.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It's making a long-lasting impression on the children and being so excited to see Miss Jen. I know that they're expected to say "yes," "no," "please," and "thank you," not overstepping parents' boundaries, but respecting my boundaries and my manners as I grew up. I absolutely love it when they start to read books; it's just amazing being able to have that interaction and having them look forward to me coming, not for me not to come. I always have activities to do, or they call them "special surprises," so there's never a dull moment. Like I said, I have a gazillion nieces and nephews, all of whom live here, and I'm the age I am, but I don't look or act it. Not a single child has ever been able to wear me out. I want to make sure they have a lasting, good memory, whether I'm there for a while or quite a while. I just want to make sure that they will also know that Miss Jen will always be there for them as a loving and safe place.
My experience with special needs children...
I attended Stephens College and took early childhood development classes. We learned a lot about the special needs of children, and most importantly, we did a lot of therapeutic play with them. That was the most satisfactory part of my time there; I absolutely loved it. It was so joyous to have that interaction, whether or not the children were verbal. I have experience with ADHD, autism, and OCD, and I can help as much as I can.I attended Stevens College and took child care lessons. The most important part about being a nanny...
Milestones are my favorite Nanny moment as in when my last baby said the word ball or when they start picking their head up or when it's 2 year old can have a complete conversation with me but yes and please and manners are very big deal and I love to catch some more video or on text to Mom and Dad and of course which I also do hi ndr and that would also be deleted as well so no worries about that

Babysitter Available in Shawnee Mission, KS: Carolyn F.
I am a stay-at-home of 4 kids (2 girls + 2 boys). I have been a stay-at-home mom for almost 19 years... that being said my kids can all drive themselves and don't need me as much anymore. I have raised 4 smart, successful, social, happy kids. I don't like screens, I read a lot, I like kids to be outside, be given moments to be creative & yes be bored (thats when they think of creative things to do ;) I have lots of rules & believe in routine (best for kids & parents/nanny ;) My personal motto in raising kids is be strict in beginning younger years and ease up as they get older. This is as much an interview of you to me as it is an interview of me to you as I don't want to do the work of getting kids to enjoy their day w/o screens and then the parent(s) give them screens at night and on weekends. I am not for everyone but these are imperative for me to do a good job raising smart, confident, social kids.
