Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Having an outlet is one of the most beneficial things in childhood development, that’s why my favorite part of working with children is seeing how creative they are. I love to paint or draw with them. I took care of these two boys (ages 5 and 7) since they were infants. Seeing how their imagination has been expanding is so exciting. I think having outside time is also very important, whether that’s going for a walk or just playing in the backyard.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Having fun is just as crucial as safety and achieving both is very easy. When children are agitated, I like to talk things out, I noticed people will often dismiss their feelings. Giving children an explanation even when they don’t verbally ask why can help them have an understanding. I did this with a little girl I used to babysit, and it significantly helped with her listening skills.
My experience with special needs children...
I don't have experience with special needs children, but bringing a smile to any childs face is worth it.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite memories working with kids is when we were playing the board game Sequence for Kids. It was so much fun because they would act so silly and be competitive. Another favorite moment of mine is when a little girl and I decorated cookies. We got to be creative and would just talk and laugh.
