My experience with special needs children...
In my experience, I have provided short-term care (about 4 times) for one child (10 yrs old) with autism. He had sensory sensitivities and a little trouble communicating & regulating emotions primarily with his other siblings, so I was just there to help provide mediation, redirection and conflict resolution through patient listening and communication.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite caregiving memories from the summer was the day I spent with 1 year old Ella, picking flowers in the backyard and walking to the park to watch the ducks and the day I spent apple picking with 5 year old Sammy and 7 year old Maddy :)
