A little bit about me

I feel it's important to compliment your parenting style, as I view the position of nanny as a supporting role. I have 5 years experience in a structured daycare setting, as well as 2 1/2 years as an in-home nanny/mommy's helper. That's in addition to my personal parenting experience. I'm a mom of 3; now teenagers/young adults. The youngest just graduated high school. I really enjoy working with the little ones, especially now that mine pretty much grown.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 5 years experience working in structured child care settings. I worked with all age groups during that time. Basic daily duties included cleaning, meal prep, lesson planning, creative play, recess/active play, & bathroom/diapering. I have handled anything, & everything, & all the things in between. I also understand the importance of communicating the child's day to the parent/guardian.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really enjoy nature & parks. Taking the kids out to discover the world around them is my idea of a fun day. Playgrounds are great places for kids to not just burn energy, but work on motor skills and build confidence. When the weather requires indoor play I like to encourage board games, puzzles, or activities like crafts. I am not anti-electronics; but I do like to get kids interacting.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Children need to be able to explore & share ideas about the world around them. Giving them the time & attention to do so is important.

My experience with special needs children...

During my time in child care I had 2 special needs children which I was entrusted with. I cannot say that I have special skills beyond patience & compassion. Their needs were very different. I worked well with both of them but was never the main caregiver to either of them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Teaching toddlers to share was one of my first child care memories. The center I worked at taught toddlers to 'prefer others' rather than only want for themselves. This blew my mind, but it's actually pretty simple. They never took anything away from the kids. Instead, when some else wanted a turn, we would say "I know you're having fun, but ____ would like to enjoy it too. Don't you think that would make them happy too?" They usually would then share & we would praise them for being so kind & thoughtful. If not, we would try again in a few minutes. Kids lose interest pretty quick anyway. So we just made sharing a big deal & not a punishment.
*This was great for parenting my 3 too!

T’yana P. - Seeking Work in Troy

Babysitter Available in Troy, MI: T’yana P.

One of my greatest strengths is using music and creativity to make learning exciting. I love using music to connect with others it’s a fun way to say “hey I love this too!” I can thrive in chaos that your children may bring because nothing is on schedule all the time when you add little ones to the mix. I enjoy singing with children and creating fun, original songs that help teach letters, numbers, colors, manners, daily routines, and emotional expression. Music encourages language development, memory, and confidence while keeping children actively engaged. I also incorporate imaginative games, storytelling, dancing, arts and crafts, and creative play to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills. These activities provide healthy physical and mental stimulation, allowing children to expend energy in a positive way, have fun, and establish a relaxing routine that helps prepare them for restful sleep.
