A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Jessa Pentecost, and I’m a 19-year-old freshman in college, studying elementary education. I turn 20 in August. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher because I love working with kids.

I love getting to know each child individually, and making sure they feel safe. I try to be someone they can look up to, but also feel comfortable being themselves around.

While I don’t have a lot of formal nannying experience, I’m responsible, patient, and a quick learner. I care about doing a good job and making sure both you and your child feel comfortable and confident with me. I’ve spent a lot of time working with kids in other ways—helping with younger cousins, volunteering at church, and teaching in a preschool program for two years in high school—which has given me a strong foundation.

I was CPR and First Aid certified in 2023 and plan to renew soon.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

- I was a teacher at South Elgin High School through their preschool program, teaching both in groups and one on one.
- I have volunteered many times at Willow Creek Community Church through their student ministry
- I have helped babysit and spend time with my little cousins

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I will gladly do any activities that your child enjoys and which you approve of, but some of my favorites are:
- Anything with music (creating or listening to)
- Play sports (especially volleyball and basketball!)
- Draw, color, and write
- Talk and have good conversation
- Help them with academics/school work!
- Help them to regulate emotions
- Anything outside!
- Board games
- Watch movies/shows

The most important part about being a nanny...

I want to make sure that I am very present, and not just doing the bare minimum to make sure the kids aren't going too crazy or anything. I want to make sure they enjoy their time and actually look forward to seeing, learning with, and doing activities with me throughout the day and I'm not just their "babysitter". I want them to feel safe, have fun, and I want to be an influential light in their life!

My experience with special needs children...

My little cousin is special needs and must be supervised 24/7, and I have spent much time with him throughout my life--feeding him, doing activities, putting him to bed, etc. I am very used to and comfortable around children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

- Helping organize and being at my students' graduation my senior year! It was super bitter-sweet.
- Going on field trips to the pumpkin farm and the zoo with the students my senior year.
