More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am currently a substitute teacher for all grades, but I have to say I love the kiddos in elementary. As a sub(k-6), I generally teach a group of students between 15-30. I have to balance teaching lessons in several different subjects, making sure students are socializing in an appropriate manner, encouraging creativity, and ensuring that each and every student is in a safe environment. This takes an incredible amount of diligence, patience, and time management. I will use the skills I have learned teaching, to care for your family.
Other than being a sub...
I care for my two beautiful and intelligent nieces(3&5) whenever mom and dad need some extra help or just some time off. If only they lived closer... When I sit for my brother and sister in law, it is usually long hours, and it’s just the three of us facing the world.
If I nanny the little humans in your life, I will give them the good ol’ auntie treatment that I give my own nieces. It’s full of fun and fierce protection.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some Indoor activities I enjoy with children are...
I love to read! Story time is my ultimate favorite. Art please! coloring, painting, crafting, molding, and LEGO’s. Dance parties, anyone? Que DJ Jess. Puzzles, race cars, fort building. Pretending-playing house, restaurant, beauty salon, animals, and doctor.
Some outside activities I enjoy doing with children : Please can we jump rope? Hop scotch! Get a good old fashion game of catch going. Nice walk to the park! Swings and monkey bars are my top favorite jungle gym activities. Riding bikes, skateboards, and scooters (with helmets, of course)! All things fun.
Infant/toddler care? Signing lullabies, playing peek a boo, feeding them, stealing their noses, counting their widdle toes, reading to them, and taking them on walks. I don’t even mind changing those stinky little diapers or wiping up puke.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Number 1: Making sure your children are SAFE! I’ve got eagle eyes, bat ears, and cat like reflexes! AND I am allergy aware!
But that’s just the start. It’s important to me that I am a cheerleader in your children’s lives; encouraging them to be their best and for them to know that I got their back. I am here for the tears and the smiles.
It’s also important, to be a role model for them, as well as a teacher. Predominately, kids learn by mimicking how the adults in their lives behave. It’s crucial to me that being a nanny means showing children that generosity and kindness are at the forefront of being a good person.
Last, but not least, it is important that a nanny is able to balance caring for children, while completing the other jobs responsibilities that are required to run a tip top home .

My experience with special needs children...
As you may have read, I am currently a substitute teacher. I am one of the few subs that do not shy away from SPED. Actually, I enjoy them Immensely.
In my experience, a person with special needs requires that extra bit of patience that many people tend to fall short on.
I walk into a classroom full of unknowns. I do not get the privilege of knowing each and every students special need (it’s not always immediately obvious), but I use my intuition, and I always set forth with kindness. I have had the pleasure of interacting and helping students with a spectrum of special needs learn their daily lessons at school and sometimes simply get through the day.
On a personal level. I have 3 brothers that have learning disabilities. I have first hand insight knowing how incredibly smart they are, but were let down by the school system because they did not fit the mold. It’s something I carry with me, and always want to make sure that I find a way to help, instead of looking over a problem.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I have never been someone’s nanny before, but I would like to share one of many favorite moments that I had subbing. It was third grade and it was nearing recess. A few children were criticizing another students drawling for not looking realistic. She began to get really upset crumpling her paper, and a full 9 yr old meltdown commenced. I was able to calm her down with some silly antics and some reassurance in her creativity. After, I told the table about abstract art and challenged them to make some of their own. At the end of the day, I got a sweet note from that girl, telling me she’s been having a rough week and that she was happy I was there. It’s a rememberable moment for me, because I was able to be a light in this girls life, even if it was just for a day. I had no idea what she was going through- her meltdown was over more than a picture- and it was not the easiest task of bringing her out of it. But I cherish this small victory. Plus, I am a sucker for a note from a kid.
