A little bit about me

I view children as independent, autonomous little humans, and strive to foster consent-based care and child-centered learning and play. My approach to childcare is Montessori-inspired, as I have been an administrator and substitute at a Montessori school for the past two years. I am passionate about racial & social justice, and have experience working with children (and parents!) of diverse identities, as well as children who have learning & emotional support needs.

Outside of nannying, I hope to become a K-8 ESL teacher in the next few years. I live in Greenfield with my partner and our two cats, Lettuce and Zuma! I love cooking, gardening, reading, listening to records, and volunteering for a local books-to-prisoners organization.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been working in both public schools and a private, non-profit Montessori school for the past 4 years. Prior to that, I lived in community with a friend who had a newborn, and often needed help with childcare. I have worked with children from 3 months old to 8th grade.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

For indoor activities, I absolutely love playing really any game your child is interested in! I'm truly a child at heart, so I'm happy to jump into anything, whether it's super-heroes, animals, LEGOs, dolls, you name it! I love cooking, prepping snack together, making playdough, and engaging with arts & crafts.

For outdoor activities, I love helping children identify plants, trees, birds, and other animals. I'm a gardener and herbalism lover, so I am happy to teach your child all I know about plants. I love going on nature walks, am a GREAT swing-pusher, and would love to spend as much time outside in the sunshine as possible with your child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a Montessori-inspired nanny is meeting your child where they are at. I am here to help them through feelings, to establish boundaries that feel good for us (it starts young!) and to really learn about who they are, so we can create a unique bond. I absolutely love spending time with children - there is never, ever, EVER a dull moment, and I learn so much each time I am in their presence.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with children who have Autism, children with physical disabilities, and children with social-emotional support needs. This is my specialty - I use ABA and Montessori -inspired methods to engage with children who are having big feelings. I also view disability as an identity to be celebrated, and not from a deficit perspective.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I introduce an amazing little girl I nannied for to yoga videos, which we did together in the living room. The next day, her mom told me she was BEGGING to do more yoga videos!
