A little bit about me

Hi families! My name is Jessie, I'm from the South West of England, and I am currently studying at Eastern Connecticut State University to become an elementary teacher!
I have worked in care as a special needs support worker, camp counsellor, and live-in nanny, and would love to continue working in child care throughout my studies. I love to engage children with creative activities, outdoor exploration and educational games, and would describe myself as patient, kind and ambitious. I've been lucky enough to work with children of many ages who all have individual needs and routines; I am always eager to work closely with parents to contribute best I can to the happiness and wellbeing of their children!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For two amazing summers, I worked as a camp counsellor for children aged 4 to 15, guiding them in a range of activities, and working as a lifeguard and swim teacher (which was one of my favorite parts of camp).
Following this experience, I decided to become an au pair and worked as live-in childcare for just under a year with two different families. I looked after four children in total, with their ages going from 3 to 11 years old. This time was truly valuable in building strong, meaningful bonds with wonderful children! I am confident in coming up with activities and games, preparing food for children (I love to cook), and providing a safe, warm environment for any child I am lucky enough to care for!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to be outdoors, and I am always up for a trip to the park or to get out on scooters and bikes or even just go out for a walk!
I've always been super creative and love to paint, draw, craft etc, so activities like this are probably my favorite to do with children; in the past I've come up with painting activities for toddlers, crafting activities for school age children and have enjoyed drawing and coloring with older kids!
Another thing I enjoy doing with children I care for is baking! I love to bake sweet treats and healthy snacks, and always have so much fun getting the kids involved in the process!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating a caring, comfortable environment for the children I am caring for, and having a positive impact on them and their family! I am becoming a teacher not only because I love working with children, but more-so because I love to pass on knowledge and lessons to young, curious minds; I hope to teach the children I work with to be kind, grateful and independent, and to be inspire them to be true to and kind to themselves most of all!
