A little bit about me

I was a 911 dispatcher for 14 years and recently left. I have been trained in CPR, Mental Health and Crisis Intervention. All my training can be applied to everyday life. I'm calm under pressure and have excellent multitasking skills. I decided after leaving my 911 job that I wanted to help people in a different way. I love working with children and pets. I worked 90% of my time during my 911 career and it was a profession which you had to devote all your time to. I have decided to take a new career path and enjoy the little things. To enjoy life again while being an important part of helping a family in any way I can. Since I left my full time job I decided to take time for myself and family. I wanted to decompress. I started pet sitting/walking, child care and a personal shopper. I have decided that I need something more financially stable and full time. I have had well over 20 years experience with children. I'd love to help and become a part of your family as well.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've had experience with child care for over 20 years, mainly for family and friends. I have 3 grandchildren 11, 6 and 1, 2 young nieces 8 and 13, a young nephew 10, and a close friend's young children that I have on a regular basis who are 5 and 3. I adore all of them and try to spend as much time as I can with them. I am a mother of a 18 year old and have two stepchildren, 28 and 25.

I currently help out a family who's mother is a Scientist. She works from home and I help care for her children 6 months, 18 months and 4 years old. I do housekeeping, meal prep for the children, and attend to their daily needs. I also care for a 6 year old who's parents are a police officer and a dispatcher. My husband is also a detective with the police department and has been an officer for 26 years. I am very trustworthy and dependable.

I will give references upon request. If you have any questions, please ask!!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy getting children outside, in the fresh air. I love going for walks, taking them swimming, or to the park. On rainy days I sometimes have the kids help out in the kitchen, maybe doing some meal prep or making lunch.
During these falls months, I love taking our grandchildren and friend's children to the pumpkin patch. Letting them run around searching for pumpkins. Getting their face painted and just have fun and enjoy being kids They keep you young, keep you busy. Its just a joy laughing with them and just being goofy sometimes.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part I think about being a nanny I feel, is trust. You want the family you work for to trust you, In all aspects. Trust to have you in their home. Trust you'll be there when your needed. Trust that you will instill in their children, what they would. Help raise them the same way their parents would. Also, communication. If you are going to be a big part of every day life with a family, you have to be able to communicate. They have to know what you are feeling and vise versa. You want to be nurturing. Provide a safe, loving and stable environment for the children you care for. They need to feel safe around you and know they also can trust you. Most days it will just come down to common sense. Be able to make the right choices and decisions about everyday aspects of child care. From what to prepare for lunch, or how to assess an emergency situation. I feel there are many important parts to being a good nanny.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Honestly I have enjoyed so many heartfelt moments with my kids, its hard to pick. Just them face timing me and saying "I miss you" or "can I come over" in their sweet little voices. I try to make every interaction with children a fun experience. It makes my day just watching them laugh, smile and play. The hugs and cuddles make it all worth it.

Samantha N. - Seeking Work in Bel Air

Babysitter Available in Bel Air, MD: Samantha N.

I solidified my passion in childcare at a young age by taking over my mother’s daycare clients when she transitioned into a new career. In middle school I became babysitter/CPR certified. In high school, I enrolled in child development courses where my peers and I curated/taught a lesson plan for the children. In the years that followed, I have had the honor of collaborating with various families to offer support as a babysitter to a live in nanny. My childcare approach is patient, playful, friendly, respectful, and nurturing.

I enjoy introducing children to nature, cooking, creative crafts, outdoor sports, and educational games. My skills include early childhood development, holistic nutrition, holistic chef, health, wellness, and pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED certified. Services available to your family are cooking, light house housekeeping, travel nanny, one time babysitter, night nanny, and swim lessons/supervision for 2 - 4 children.
