More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've spent nearly four years caring for infants and toddlers, including children with ASD and ADHD. With infants, I focus on reading cues, soothing, and building trust through calm presence and connection. With toddlers, I encourage independence through small choices like pouring a snack, choosing an activity, or trying on their jacket. I enjoy setting up sensory play (textures, water, puzzles, coloring, or simply rolling and jumping around the room with the child), which helps with regulation and expression.
What I've learned is one of the most important aspects of connection is how much it matters to meet a child at their level, physically and emotionally. I always kneel or sit with them so I can listen and engage eye to eye. When they feel seen, they open up, not just with words but with trust. To me, that's the heart of good childcare.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some of my favorite activities with children come from following the seasons. In spring, we listened to birds, watched squirrels, drew with chalk, and noticed flowers bloom. In summer, we explored water, paint, and garden pots and buckets. We mixed colors, pouring, watering plants, or simply collecting treasures. In fall, we picked up and tossed leaves into the air, learned to sweep, read stories outside, and even spotted mushrooms. In winter, we explored snow and the beauty of scooping, melting it with paint or food coloring, and coloring ice with shaved chalk.
There are so many more, but these are just a glimpse into the beautiful, simple moments that children and I love discovering together.

My experience with special needs children...
My work with children with ASD and ADHD has taught me that support isn’t always about directing, and sometimes it’s about simply being present. I pay close attention to each child’s routines, sensory needs, and communication style, including nonverbal cues. During moments of dysregulation, I’ve learned to stay calm, sit with the child, and let them know they are safe, even without saying much. Some children don’t need me to *do* anything; they just need someone *with* them.
When frustration builds, especially for children who are nonverbal, I respond based on what helps that child feel grounded, whether that means gently holding them if they seek comfort, offering a familiar activity like a puzzle or coloring, offering options for snacks, or simply giving them quiet space while staying near.
I value routines, connection, and emotional safety. My goal is always to help children feel understood, supported, and in control of their own calming process.
