The most important part about being a nanny...
As a nanny I prioritize safety as the most important part of my job.
I also believe that a very important and fulfilling part of my job is supporting families as they grow and raise their little ones into confident, kind, and curious people. It is critical as a caregiver that I affirm the household expectations and boundaries with kiddos and create a cohesive and routine experience with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...
When faced with a consistently tricky transition for a child, I often use music or melodic intonation to help move them through the moment.
For example, I recently cared for a three-year-old who had a hard time moving from lunchtime to her nap. During lunch I introduced a rhyme to prime her into the transition: "first lunch, then potty, then book, then bed". After a few days of practice she was confident in the routine and began doing the "nap plan song" at the start of lunch and then moving calmly through the transitions with minimal prompting. I am so proud of her and am honored to have been able to help make a tricky part of the day smooth and dependable for everyone and help her feel more prepared and independent in her daily life.
