More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a teacher for 12 years in Texas. I taught Special Needs children and Elementary school children. My Nanny experience has been with a family from Wisconsin who spend the winters in AZ. The family has three boys age range 4-11. The youngest is non verbal due to Pacs1 disease. The boys are very active so we were always outside, learning remotely and cooking. I have also volunteered over the years in many organizations.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities will depend on what the children are interested in and then creating exciting things for them to do and learn. I like doing art activities, painting rocks, puzzles and cooking. I love hiking, the beach, biking, golfing and being outdoors.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I enjoy finding what excites children and building on their experiences. Every child is different what works for one doesn’t always for another. It is also important to be consistent and follow the rules that work for the family.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a Special Ed degree from Fitchburg State College. I have worked with learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, dyslexia, autism, Down syndrome, and non verbal children. I speak some Spanish and I am working on my sign language ability.
The most important part about being a nanny...
We had a complete day of cooking. We started out with a pancake challenge between me and one of the boys. The older brother would be the judge. The brother worked out his recipe using a box mix. He added several things and taunted me the entire time because I was using a recipe. When it came to judging he was pacing so cute! His brother told him his were good but mine tasted like Grandmas. Brother conceded and said “I can’t compete with that”!
