I am a retired divorced senior in excellent shape. I raised only one child of my own. Widowed very young. Remarried, raised his young daughter.. she is grown up now and in Austin, Texas. We are now divorced. My child is married, very successful. I have 2 grandchildren. 15 and 17. One is student at Ursaline, and the other graduating this year from st. Xavier with honors. I am proud.....I am very active. Love Nature, artistic, and very nurturing. I love children, and I have too much free time. I also was involved in Big Brothers, and sisters. I had a girl 8 at the time. 2 years later I won Big Sister award. I believe I received more lessons, then I could have ever taught her.....What a great feeling. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a nurse. I let my license go years ago....At that time it was not for me. I became an insurance agent and ended up being the first woman in ohio to own a Sand and Gravel company. I brought my brother on board...later I owned a Roofing company and Home Improvement company. Co-owner. After the divorce. I kept part of the company. .I closed it during covid....Since then, I have been staying busy sitting dogs, horses. Cats, etc. No long term nanny jobs, just babysitting here and there.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Games, cooking, swimming, going to parks, museums, zoo. I am pretty flexible. Even camping....

The most important part about being a nanny...

Getting to know them well enough that you are trusted. Almost agape....Each child is different and you need to give yourself time to learn about each one. Showing love and respect, so as time passes, they mimick your manners and kindness. You must teach all things, ongoing.....They will someday be our leaders, and we as a community must prepare them.....Take care of their needs, boo boos, etc. Always be there for them. AND love them unconditionally.....AND ABOVE ALL. ABIDE BY PARENTS RULES. I HAVE NEVER STEP OVER SOMETHING I WAS ASK NOT TO DO......

My experience with special needs children...

I have dealt with older special needs children and it was very gratifying. I am not saying I would not, but would rather not.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I took 4 children on a houseboat trip. My father had a cabin there. I am experienced at boating, pro water-skiing, tubing, swimming and cooking outdoors. I know the lake especially well, so I pulled the boat out a bit. Anchored it and told them whoever wanted to jump off the top, raise their hand. All 4 did. These children were not strangers to the water. I am also a safety nut. I said let me go first, and you watch. They did. Then I said we will all go together...holding hands, and on the count of 3. Everyone must come up still holding tight to the others hand.....A successful jump, that gave these children more confidence then I would have ever thought......It's called trust, and patience, and never forcing... I would never do this with your child, no worries.....All 4 of these children had been on numerous, expensive vacations. First class. All 4 of them went home and told their parents, out of all the places they had been, they had more fun in Cumberland lake, Kentucky.
