The most important part about being a nanny is building a loving and trusting relationship with the children, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment, and supporting their physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
My experience with special needs children...
Working with special needs children has been a rewarding experience. I recall one moment with a child who had autism, where he got overwhelmed with playdough. I got down to his level, played alongside him, and slowly he calmed down and initiated interactions. It was a small breakthrough, but it felt huge. Every child is unique and deserving of love, respect, and individualized care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite memories as a nanny was when I was trying to get the kids to eat their vegetables, and one of them looked up at me and said, ‘But nanny, I’m a growing boy!’ I couldn’t help but laugh and reply, ‘Well, you’re definitely growing...into a picky eater!’ We all ended up laughing and having a great time together.
