More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a babysitter for majority of my teen years and into my 20s, up until I became a Respite & Habilitation Provider for the Department of Developmental Disabilities where I worked with children & young adults. I currently work in an ABA center for kids with autism as a Registered Behavior Technician.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When at home, arts & crafts are so much fun, and can be great for the developing mind! I also love music, especially music children can learn from. Outside of the home setting, I love to go to the park, museums, the aquarium and even the zoo; all fun, new environments for the kiddos.
The most important part about being a nanny...
First & foremost, to remember, YOU ARE NOT MOM OR DAD! But the most important part about being a nanny is building a strong, loving bond with the children you care for. This relationship is the foundation for everything else you do. When children feel safe, loved, and understood, they thrive emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
My experience with special needs children...
Working in an ABA therapy clinic has allowed me to see and experience a wide range of personalities, skill levels, and needs. Being an RBT I've learned skills in data collection, communication with clients and families, skill acquisition (e.g., daily living skills, social skills), and support for clients with autism or other developmental disorders for over 1.5 years.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Any time that I have a difficult child that's hard to bond with but one day you make the break through and have a connection. You get to experience all the firsts that come with it, first time they’re sad that you have to leave or beyond excited when you walk in the door, the first time they say I love you, give a hug, it’s all so sweet!
