To me, it would be the safety and health of the children. They come first, and it is my responsibility to make sure they’re safe and healthy. So making sure they are first safe and healthy and okay, is top priority and all else will fall into place after that.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not cared for many special needs children. At my church, we would occasionally have some children with diagnoses of autism and they were not ever a problem so long as you tended to their needs appropriately and moved at their pace.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Once I was caring for a four year old boy for a day, for a friend of my moms. We’d had a long day of going to the park, eating ice cream, watching movies, playing hopscotch, all the things. I’d gotten him back to his parents and his mom texted me a little while after and said he’d told her he had the best time and so much fun, and asked when we could hang out again. That certainly made my heart happy and it was nice to know I’d made his day.
