More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was an after school teacher's assistant for three years, working with children ages five through thirteen. I provided tutoring and homework help; organized and lead arts and physical fitness activities.
During my time with the after school program, I worked closely with underserved families, special needs children, and at risk teenagers.
I also nannied a child in Portland from ages [phone number hidden]).We still keep in touch! We are pen pals and her and her mother visit me a couple times a year.
I was a Lead Instructor for a soccer based, child development program called 'Little Kickers'. I worked with children 18 months-10 years old.
Since I was young, I've always been the cousin, or neighbor, that spent many weekends and summers babysitting children of friends and family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy any activity that allows and encourages a child to use their imagination, especially if it is an outdoor activity.
I am particularly excited about art and science!
I believe there is a lot to learn from making a "constructive mess", and cleaning up can be FUN! (It happens to be my mantra to motivate myself to do my OWN chores. Ha!)

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny to me is not only caring for the child(ren), but also for the family dynamic.
I have worked with families navigating divorce, single parents, parents of multiple children, single parent families, and same sex couple families.
Every family, as is every child, is unique and special in their own way, and shall be honored and appreciated as such. :)
I strive to have open and honest communication, and wish to cultivate a warm and caring environment.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience caring for children with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, Epilepsy, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Depression, and Chronic Asthma.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love witnessing milestones and achievements, and it's quite difficult for me to narrow it down to one favorite moment.
I will say teaching a child to tie their shoes, and learning to read and write, are some of my favorites! Such special skills we, ourselves, often take for granted.
Watching a child crawl, walk, talk, etcetera, for the first time is also such a treat. :)

Hello! I recently moved to Portland, leaving behind my wonderful job as a preschool teacher of 3 years. Before that, I gained valuable experience working in both elementary school and daycare settings. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and have taken several early childhood education/development classes. have a patient, kind, and gentle approach, and I am always eager to continue learning and growing in my practice. I embrace a child-led, Montessori-inspired philosophy, with a strong emphasis on supporting each child’s personal, social, and emotional development.

Hi :) I'm 18 years old, taking a gap year before attending college. I just moved to Portland a few days ago. I have recently been helping kids out with online school, as well as playing after classes. Online school can be difficult for young children to stay engaged with, and I have seen the importance of having someone with them to stay on track while also respecting their need to move around and take breaks. I love playing games, doing arts and crafts, and spending time outside. Some of my hobbies are painting, reading, and playing the guitar.
I am CPR certified by the Red Cross, and my hours are completely flexible. I will be available both weekdays and weekends as well as nights. Hope to hear from you soon!
