More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Starting as a babysitter, I taught group and private swim lessons before entering into daycares. I worked as resource teacher across infancy and school age for 4 years then as a lead teacher for another 4. At the same time, I was a part-time nanny one family, then worked as a summer/fall nanny for a family of four for two years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Swimming, taking walks, reading, crafting, getting messy, dancing, cooking/trying new foods, and exploring community spaces.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love broadening the horizons of children, doing my best to teach them new perspectives and ways of thinking.
Especially, I teach the kids I interact with about their own autonomy, that they are also a person who I mutually respect in the most important ways. I always want them to be aware that I am a "safe place"; that I'm their advocate and if they make mistakes (or have accidents), that they have the confidence to come to me for help and not feel ashamed or scared. Every mistake is a learning experience for us both!

My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for and taught children with social-emotional needs as well as physical development disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moments have been the times my kids have surprised me with their knowledge. Once a student surprised me by repeating a Spanish word back to me in the correct context, proving to me he hadn't just been babbling all along! As a swim coach, I love overheaping on the praise every time one of my students passed a new milestone.

Live-In Part-Time Nanny Available in La Vista, NE: Christina O.
Hi, my name is Christina and I’m currently a preschool dance teacher. Formerly in Missouri, I was a 6th-12th grade choir director for 3 years.
My passion for teaching and children has always been one of my greatest strengths. I speak Spanish as well, not quite as fluently as I’d like, but am seeking to get a certification in Spanish education.
In my free time I value health from the inside out and am currently taking a neurodivergence course specializing in ADHD and Autism. I am very musical both vocally and instrumentally and value teaching through movement/art/expression.
In my previous school district, we were trained on BIST, a trauma informed behavioral system that helped deescalate behavioral outbursts, to communicate and effectively assist students in navigating their emotions through behavioral challenges.
I have a deep level of empathy and as someone that was diagnosed with ADHD late, I value helping children find routines/resources that improve overall health.
