Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I started babysitting from 12 years old to 17, but I’ve been a swim instructor since I was 16 until now. I have been CPR certified for many years but am not currently (mine expired a few months ago). I have had to use it before and know what to do in emergency situations. If you have a private pool I am also willing to teach swim lessons in the summer for a rate which we can discuss.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love fun educational activities especially in younger age groups like sensory play and music. I believe it it’s important to start learning at just a few months old, children are able and willing to soak up all the information they can to better understand their surroundings and I find it to be a beautiful and exciting process.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a part of a kids life. I had a nanny growing up and I still think about her to this day. I am the same for all the kids I’ve looked after, I’m always wondering what they’re up to now. There’s nothing as special as childhood and being a nanny is one way to experience it over and over again.
My experience with special needs children...
I took care of a kid on the spectrum with ADHD for almost 6 years, as well as throughout my lessons learning to navigate kids who are nonverbal or have anxiety, attention disorders, or socializing difficulties.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the families I worked for lived right beside me and when they came home or during the summer even when I wasn’t babysitting they would come visit me to show me or tell me things. It was also a moment of pride for me when my swim lessons would try and negotiate with me to stretch out our lesson time after it had ended saying things like “watch me do another trick” or “I wanted to tell you what happened at recess” or even the more dramatic “NOOOOOO!”.
