A little bit about me

I’ve been working in childcare for 8 1/2 years, nannying for 6 years of those years. To me, this is more than a job, it's my career that I love! I truly cherish the unique experiences, knowledge, and connections I've made with each child & their family.

I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Human Development with a minor in Early Childhood Education at Coppin State University online. Additionally, I hold an associate's degree in Early Childhood/Teacher Education from the Community College of Baltimore County. Throughout my studies, I completed 90 hours of coursework in Childhood Development, 45 hours in Infant and Toddler Care, and training in School-Age Care. I also have 2 years of experience working as a Substitute Teacher for BCPS part-time for children in Grades PK-8. I am also certified in Infant & Child CPR, AED, and First Aid.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started my career in 2017 when I joined a daycare in Downtown Baltimore. There, I worked as a Teacher's Aide and later as a Teacher, caring for children from infancy and toddlers up to preschool age, dedicating 3.5 years to these roles. During the pandemic, I decided to transition into nannying, which has been my career since mid-2020. Over these six years, I have had the privilege of working with multiple families in various childcare arrangements: some through nanny shares; some with newborns and infants as young as a few weeks old; and others with children of different ages, from infants and toddlers to six-year-olds. I also worked as a night nanny and mother's helper, and I do pickups and drop-offs to home, school, and activities. I happily still babysit the children I used to nanny for or those I met through families I've nannied for!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love walking in the Park/ playground, doing water play activities when it's nice outside. I love taking kids to the Aquarium, Science Center, Port Discovery, and Indoor Play center. I also love reading, making art projects, music and dance time, baking cookies & cupcakes, and watching Disney movies, mainly the ones you can sing at the top of your lungs to all the Disney songs!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the important part of being a Nanny is making a difference in a child’s life. I believe in providing children with a balanced approach that combines active guidance with ample opportunities for positive self-expression and learning. I aim to serve as a family’s support system & work to be flexible and available to the children's/families' needs!

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with children with special needs while substitute teaching for BCPS for two years. I’m also working on getting my paraeducator certification. I have also taken classes for both my associate's and bachelor's degrees about caring/teaching children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I remember the first time the last family I was a nanny for told me that they saw me as more than just their nanny, but also part of their family and a huge part of their son's life. I felt a genuine connection to the family and I continue to want that with any family I work with.
