More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
- I am wrapping up my 11th year of being an elementary teacher at international schools across three different countries in Europe and Central Asia. I have taught Pre-K (2 yrs), 5th grade (2 yrs), 2nd grade (7 yrs), and combined K/1st grade (2 yrs).
- I began working as a nanny in 2008 while in high school, then continued throughout my four years in university (2013). I worked full- and part-time for three different families during that time. After moving overseas, I returned in the summers to work for my last family for two additional years.
- I have dedicated much of my free time to volunteering with a center for children and adults with special needs and their families. The group I worked closely with is located in one of the countries where I worked, which sparked my career abroad.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
If we're stuck inside: Arts and Crafts, Cooking/Baking, Puzzles, Board and Card Games, Indoor Camping, Music and Dancing, Science Experiments, Imaginative Play, Building and Creating (with all sorts of materials), Yoga, Sensory Play, Storytelling & Dramatic Play, and more!
When we can go outside: Nature Walks, Picnics, Visit Playgrounds/Parks, Nature Scavenger Hunts, Water Play, Swimming, Outdoor Art Projects, Nature Crafts, Bubbles, Backyard Camping, Various Basic Sports Activities, etc.
Most of all, I love finding ways to help children foster a passion for serving others as early as possible. We can take part in neighborhood cleanups, make cards for community helpers, make care packages for families facing difficult times, visit elderly to play games and make art, and find other ways to help around the community.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny is fostering a safe, nurturing, and loving environment where children can thrive emotionally, intellectually, and socially. This involves building a strong bond based on trust and respect, providing personalized care and attention, promoting healthy development through engaging activities, and being a positive role model and mentor in their lives.
My experience with special needs children...
I have some experience working with a little one with special needs firsthand. My nephew was born 3 months premature, had a hole in his heart, and was diagnosed early with Autism. He had minimal verbal communication and needed tube feedings for around 1 year. Additionally, he received OT, PT, and Speech Therapy.
I have extensive experience working in the classroom with students who have a wide range of learning difficulties, including but not limited to dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), auditory processing disorder (APD), dyscalculia, and specific language impairment (SLI).
For several years I have volunteered with a center for adults and children with special needs. I've supported the group throughout the year with various projects, but my primary focus has been helping conduct a summer camp for the families to provide respite and community.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The list of moments I wish I could have bottled up and kept is long, but one of my favorites was a summer day when we decided to just get messy! My little one loved the book, "I Ain't Gonna Paint No More," so we spent the day in the backyard making art! We used our fingers and toes, painted on conventional and not-so conventional objects, used colorful bubbles, made chalk art, and so much more! Little one got to live out her "I Ain't Gonna Pain No More" dream!
