More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I grew up in a daycare since my mom owned and directed the business. I began working there at age 16. I started as a cleaner and grew into a teacher. I've worked with every classroom or age group, 8 wks old - 14 yr olds. Each age group had a set learning schedule on various goals. This has led me to be very creative to keeping children entertained. I love setting children up to learn new exciting things such as making lemonade, baking, building forts, recognizing different leaves and bugs outside. Hands on learning is the best. Discovering the simple things that most of us adults have forgotten.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Crafting, outside games, baking, building, coloring.... I can make mostly anything fun.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is being a friend and protector. Giving a safe space for children to learn and grow.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience is limited to Aspergers, Autistic, Down syndrome, ADHD, ADD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have quite a few, I had a two year old girl who was obsessed with Frozen. Mostly the singing, not the movie. I would play "let it go" in our afternoon dance session. She loved it... up until the moment I started singing along. I could only be Miss Kara, not Elsa as she corrected to me. She was always this direct. She was the first born and mom would tell me after every weekend how her daughter only preferred me doing her hair, dancing, playing, etc. I had to encourage the feisty little 2 yr old to let mom try new things with her. She was always so determined. I really favored that about her. She's now 12 with two younger siblings.
