The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is building a trusting, loving relationship with the children and their family. It’s about creating a safe, nurturing environment where kids feel valued, supported, and free to be themselves. A great nanny doesn’t just watch children, they guide, teach, and care for them as if they were their own, helping them grow with kindness, patience, and consistency.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not personally nannied a child with special needs, but I have experience working with them through music programs I have helped facilitate. I found it very rewarding to help normalize their experience and make sure they knew they were a valued member of the group.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments was helping a shy child become more social through music and singing. This wasn’t a child I nannied, but one I mentored through a music program I helped facilitate. We spent time learning songs together, clapping, and dancing, and over time I watched them gain confidence, join in group activities, and even lead sing alongs with other children. Seeing their personality blossom and their smile grow was incredibly rewarding and reminded me why I love working with kids.
